What is the Scrap Car Price Report?
Our Annual Scrap Car Price Report gives you a great overview of what the average scrap price was during the year.
We add all the scrap prices we’ve paid over the year and divide it by the number of vehicles we’ve scrapped. This gives us the average scrap car price for 2025.
Of course, all cars come in completely different shapes and sizes, so it does not mean your car will be worth the same as the average price. There are also lots of other factors involved in what the price will be, mentioned below.
What Determines the Price of a Scrap Car?
The price of a scrap car is determined by many factors. Here are the most common:
- Weight
- Alloy wheels
- Parts
- Make and model
- Year
- Number of body panels
- Whether it drives
The value of a scrap car is mainly influenced by its age, size and weight. The bigger the car, the more metal is accessible for scrap, which will increase the price. Cars made with materials other than steel will have a decreased value. This is more likely to happen with newer cars than older ones.
Removing parts from your car that potentially have value may lower the price of your scrap car, so it is essential to think carefully before doing so.
The age and mileage of the car do not typically affect the scrap car value. In fact, the average age of scrapped vehicles in 2025 was 19 years.

End-Of-Year 2025 Average Scrap Car Price
What a year it’s been for scrap car prices here at Scrap My Car Company. We’ve helped thousands of drivers turn their old motors into quick, reliable cash, and the numbers are finally in…
The average scrap car price in 2025 reached an impressive £268.
That’s a solid return for vehicles that are often sitting unused on driveways, SORN’d in garages or costing owners money in tax, insurance or repairs they no longer want to deal with.
Scrap values this year were driven by steady demand for recycled metals and a strong flow of end-of-life vehicles entering the market. While prices naturally rise and fall throughout the year, 2025 proved to be a positive period overall for anyone looking to part with an older car.
But here’s the important bit…
Scrap metal prices can change quickly, sometimes even month-to-month, depending on global markets and demand from recyclers. That’s why many drivers decide to scrap their car sooner rather than later — securing a guaranteed quote while prices are still healthy.
If your vehicle is sat unused, costing you money, or coming to the end of its life, now could be a great time to lock in a strong price and free up some space at home.
